Windsor Road right turn extension
Safety improvements at the Windsor Road and Merriville Road intersection in Kellyville Ridge will create an additional right turn lane and improve the way traffic moves through the intersection.
A safer approach to Merriville Road
Transport for NSW is upgrading the Windsor Road intersection as part of the Road Safety Program, which is focused on reducing crashes and improving safety on NSW roads.
The project will add turning capacity, extend the existing right turn lane and upgrade the surrounding road infrastructure.
Up to 40 night shifts
Work is scheduled between Sunday 6 September and Friday 18 December 2026, weather permitting. Crews will generally work Sunday to Thursday between 8pm and 5am.
What’s being upgraded
The intersection will be reconfigured to provide additional turning capacity and improve road infrastructure.
New right turn lane
A second right turn lane will be constructed on Windsor Road.
Existing lane extended
The existing right turn lane into Merriville Road will be extended.
Median and kerbs
The central median will be removed and new concrete median and kerbs installed.
Lighting and markings
Street lighting will be upgraded and line marking refreshed.
Working at night
Night construction will help reduce disruption to daytime traffic and limit safety risks around the work site.
Sunday–Thursday
8pm–5am
Up to five nights of work may occur each week while the project is underway.
Friday nights & Saturdays
No work is planned on Friday nights, Saturdays or public holidays. The schedule may also change due to weather or site conditions.
Traffic changes
Temporary arrangements will be used to keep workers, motorists and pedestrians safe while construction is underway.
For people travelling through the area
- Lane closures will be in place around the work area when required.
- A temporary 40km/h speed limit will apply during construction.
- Traffic controllers will manage vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone.
- Access to the pedestrian crossing will be maintained.
Reducing construction impacts
Some noise is expected during overnight work. The project team will take practical steps to limit disruption to nearby residents and road users.
- Equipment and vehicles will be switched off when not in use.
- Noisier activities will be completed by midnight where possible.
- Noise blankets will be used for suitable noisy activities.
- Quieter equipment will be selected where possible.
Other project considerations
Approximately 10 trees
Trees within the central median will need to be removed to make space for the additional lane. Any loss will be mitigated in accordance with Transport for NSW Biodiversity Guidelines through a contribution to the Transport for NSW Conservation Fund.
Tallawong support site
A temporary compound will be established at the corner of Schofields Road and Boundary Road, Tallawong, around 3.5 kilometres north-west of the work site. It will be accessed via Evergreen Street and restored after construction.
Part of a wider investment
The project forms part of the Road Safety Program, supported by a $518 million investment from the Australian and NSW governments in road safety projects across NSW.
Occasional daytime access
The site compound will mainly operate during night works, with occasional daytime access required for deliveries.
